A court filing shows that Giuliani owes more than $1.3 million to the law firm Davidoff Hutcher & Citron. The lawyer Robert Costello sued Giuliani in September for $1.36 million in unpaid legal fees dating to 2019. Giuliani had planned to raise some of his legal defense money at two of Trump's properties, Andrew Giuliani previously said. "Yes, I gave Rudy $100,000 for his legal defense PAC and I was happy to do so," Elizabeth Ailes told CNBC. And the real estate investment firm Probity International, which is run by Trump donor Robert Zarnegin, gave $35,000 to the Giuliani PAC.

Two New York Democratic congressmen filed a House Ethics Committee complaint Tuesday against Rep. George Santos, the freshman New York Republican who recently was found to have lied about and embellished details on his resume. "At a minimum, it is apparent that he did not file timely disclosure reports for his most recent campaign," Torres and Goldman wrote. Goldman told reporters, "We hope that the House Ethics Committee will seriously investigate." The Hill reported that in response to the complaint, Santos said, "They're free to do whatever they want to do." OCE, which is an independent, non-partisan entity established by the House, is distinct from the House Ethics Committee.
Federal authorities on Tuesday charged FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried with using what they said was tens of millions of dollars of misappropriated customer funds to make illegal political donations to both Democratic and Republican candidates. He then used those funds to make "large political donations," to make investments and buy "lavish real estate," the SEC complaint alleged. The campaign finance allegations come days after a private watchdog group asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate Bankman-Fried's political contributions. Most of Bankman-Fried's publicly disclosed campaign contributions, which totaled nearly $40 million in the 20222 election cycle, went toward Democrats, FEC records show. "The question is whether regulators, including the SEC, backed off from aggressive investigation of FTX because of this political influence," Painter said.
